Vegas Baby

First of all, thank you to everyone who stopped by and left a little note for drawing of the sisterhood. I have met many wonderful new people and checked out many new blogs (still working on that). The winner's name is Carol - Linen Stitcher.

We are in wonderful, wacky Las Vegas.

My first stop in Las Vegas was a wonderful little slice of heaven called Stitcher's Paradise. I was introduced to this shop by an online friend and we met there. Here is a photo of Juls and I in the shop. I walked out with 1/2 yd 25 count antique white lugana for my HAED, 1/4 yd. white 32 count lugana to restart my Cirque des Cercles, Glendon Places "Monster March", M Designs "Las Vegas" (only available at this shop) and some new threads. I was so in awe I left without the threads that I actually needed. It was so nice to meet Juls. She knows her fabric and designers! She amazed me with her knowledge. We had a lovely time and extended it to dinner in a local restaurant. Thank you Juls - it was a great pleasure to meet you and I hope we meet again.

We have had some friends from home fly here. We have met them and are touring the strip. It is as anyone would expect - over the top. There doesn't seem to be any recession here. It is crazy busy and the number of young people is astonishing. We have had lots of laughs and have not won a single dime in the casinos. Such is life. As I have been to Vegas several times I thought I would share a couple of different photos of the Strip.
These are the doors to the ladies washroom in Planet Hollywood in Caesar's Palace. On the exterior wall of the Venetian.Dh and his friend outside of the Riviera.

Now, for stitching. The Fair Squares that I have sent recently have been received and so I can share them with you.
My Round 11 squares are:
Dear Friend by Elizabeth Designs on 32 count antique white Lugana. I added the heart in the middle.

My Winter Squares were a freebie (Mausimom I believe) on the same fabric.

There was no information on these lovely squares I received from Mia in Finland. They are gorgeous. Love the design.

I am working on a couple of secret stitches at the moment and so cannot share anything else for now.
I will blog again when I can. We are leaving tomorrow for the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Sedona and Jerome and then home to Yuma.

Take care. And May all your losses be little! Just ask me about that!!!!!

  6. I got that M Designs Vegas pattern when I was there too! Love Stitcher's Paradise. Hope you had a great time on the rest of your trip. The Hoover Dam was much more interesting than I expected. And Grand Canyon is phenomenal this time of year (no crowds). Have fun!

  8. Stitcher's Paradise. That name says it all, doesn't it? And judging from the fabulous models on the wall, the name is accurate!! (Oh, and the "models" of the actual stitchers look great as well!!)

Nice finishes on the Fair and Square exchanges!! I really love that one from Finland, too!

    Enjoy your travels.

  14. I expanded the photo just to see the wall. What is the one with the witches in the upper left hand corner? I cant make out what the caption says. Do you know the designer. That must have been mighty nice to meet up.
    Pretty squares.

  15. Hi Kathy,

    Wow!! What a wonderful store!!
    Look at all the incredible
    stitchy goodness all around you.
    There's nothing like spending
    time wandering around a X-stitch
    store, admiring the framed pieces
on the wall, rummaging in the
stacks, and pulling thread off of
    display racks.

And how wonderful to have the
    opportunity to meet another
    blogger friend. Sounds like you
and Juls had a great get together.
You were able to get some great
stash while you were there too,
picking up materials that you will
    be needing for upcoming projects.

Your squares are lovely, with my
    favourite being Dear Friend with
the pretty pink hearts and dainty
    flowered vines. Very pretty. The
snowman square is cute, but since
I'm feeling rather OVER Winter at
the moment I'm not able to muster
    much enthusiasm for snow by-products.

Mia stitched you a lovely square
    too, with a pretty variegated
    thread and an intricate pattern.

Your finish of "My Needle and
    My Floss" looks fantastic!!
And it must be so cool to be a
    part of the "sisterhood" now.
A project is even more special
when there's a story attached to
it. Make sure you write that
story down if you frame this
and attach it to the back of the
frame so it won't be lost or
    forgotten.

    You've got some great places
    to visit on your traveling
    itinerary. Hope you have a
    great trip.

    Cheers!

  24. Hello there. You are a familiar face to me as I have seen your comments on other stitchers blogs and have visited your page before.
I am new to the world of stitching and have been browsing various blogs to try and gain some knowledge and get some tips / ideas. I originally started with a stamped, then counted “kits”. I’m working on my 2nd chart and have noticed some big differences in floss types and quality.
My Cross Stitch Mentor has told me that I’m ready to graduate from Aida, but I really like Aida. Maybe it’s just beginner’s comfort???
If you would answer my question… What type of fabric or fabrics do you prefer and why? Brands and counts?
I would appreciate any advice, thanks!
