The loves of my life!

are my children and grandchildren and my husband. We miss our family when we don't see them for an extended period of time.
Our son Adam, his wife Cindy and our two grandson's Jackson (5) and Hunter (3) arrived in Los Angeles last Wednesday.
We spent four wonderful, crazy, fun, busy days with them in Los Angeles.

Day 1 - Disneyland. The grandson's loved it. They liked meeting Mickey Mouse

but the big hit was meeting Winnie the Pooh!!

Day 2 - Disney's California Adventure. They loved the rides and we did "Soaring Over California" twice - Hunter says we were flying. Here's a family shot with Lightning McQueen and TowMater.

Day 3 - Adam and Cindy toured LA and Leo and I took the grandsons to Legoland. What a great day we had. We had our grandson's to ourselves and I think we went on every ride that they could go on. Hunter and I agreed the Dragon roller coaster was "a little bit scary".
The boys are being silly for gramma's camera.

Day 4 - Universal Studios - this may not have been the wisest decision. Being Canadian we did not realize that it was a long weekend - President's Day. The park was a zoo. It took us 1 1/2 hours just to get inside the park. The kids loved meeting Spongebob. I just don't get him! I find him rude and abrasive but the kids seem to get a kick out of him.

We did the studio tour - great! We did the 4D Shrek movie- lots of laughs, had lunch and then left. The lineups were getting progressively longer and I think we were all exhausted. We agreed that 4 days of touristing all out was too much.
We packed up our stuff and drove back to Yuma. Can you tell the boys are tired?

Yesterday we spent  doing laundry and generally enjoying doing nothing. Today was a trip to the park, a little shopping, dinner with friends and a whole lot of relaxing. The family will be here until Friday when we take them to San Diego to fly home. We are hoping to make lots more memories by then.

On the stitching front, I did do some work on my Mirabilia but will save the photo until the next time. I'm sure you are getting tired of that red dress. I know I am.

I did some stitching on my Fairies in the Garden too. I did all the green leaves on the left, the two little flowers, the almost butterfly and the writing. The writing is done with a #8 braid and what a pain! I also had to pull out one letter and I can still see the shadows in the background. I don't know if it is fixable and it annoys me.

When I came back from our family trip there were over 500 posts in my google reader. I read them all, every one but I did not comment. I'm sorry but that was just too many to comment. I did admire everyone's beautiful work. What an amazing group of stitchers you all are. I'm sending out pats on the back all around.

On Tuesday, the 23rd, Leo and I are heading out on a 8 night Mexican cruise to Acapulco, Puerto Vallerta and Mazatlan. I am so looking forward to no cooking, no doing dishes, no having to plan a meal and just relaxing. I don't even have to pick my towel up off the floor if I don't want to. I don't care if I get off the ship. I'm just looking forward to being pampered. And my stitching will be going with me.

Our son's surgery has been rescheduled to March 16th. Would you believe the surgeon overbooked. They told our son that he could show up on the 9th but would probably get bumped.  So, we have had to change our flights, hotel reservations etc. Am I a little annoyed - YOU BET!!!
I will try and update my blog before I leave for the cruise but if I run out of time you now know why!

Until next time, keep on stitching!!

What a lovely time you've had with your family and those sweetie grandkids :) They will always remember it because I had grandparents that did the same with me and my brothers, and I look back fondly and recall all those special times.....

Your grandsons are just precious and it looks like a great time was had by all. My boys were big Pooh and Tigger fans when they were small. :o)

Overbooking surgery...that's kinda creepy, huh?

Looks like a grand little holiday. Awww, Spongebob! And Pooh!

Try scotch tape on the shadowed area. Front & back side. The tape will help pull off those imbedded fibers.

Great pictures! We're going to Disney in Florida in June and your pics have made me even more excited!
That is so annoying about your sons surgery date getting changed.
Enjoy the cruise :)

What a wonderful, beautiful gift..the gift of time together. Those little sweet guys are going to grow up so fast. I know you enjoy every single minute with them...even the hideous moments like at Universal Studio on a holiday! I am very excited about your upcome cruise. What a treat! And DON'T pick up that towel! Well, maybe not the first couple of times! ha ha Of all the things that are overbooked, surgery wasn't one that came readily to my mind. Sorry for that hassle. But somewhere, there is a reason. Even if we don't get it. You have a great time and we'll be here when you return!

What a great time it looks like you had at Disney, Kathy! I can't wait until I have grandchildren and can take them there...such memories! Enjoy your trip to Puerto Vallerta--perfect time to be getting away for a while. And isn't it nice that stitching is such a portable hobby?

Hi Kathy,

Those boys, sleeping with red cheeks and I bet dreaming of Winnie the Pooh etc. ... that says it all, doesn't it?! Great to see this.
Have a very lazy, nice & relaxing cruise!!!

Looks like your grandkids had an awesome time! You too, I'm sure. How nice that you can spend some quality time with them. I really wish mine lived closer.
Ahhh, stitching and cruising... sounds like heaven!
Fairies is coming along nicely. Don't know when you found the time to stitch with all that was going on.
What a pain having to reschedule everything like that! It's not the first time I've heard of this happening though.

Hi Kathy,

After reading your blog post I had
to go lie down because just reading about all your adventures doing the tourist thing in L.A. exhausted me!!
But it does sound, and look, like
everyone had a blast.

I've never been anywhere Disney and
keep being told by everyone how
incredible it is. Most people I
know have been to Disney World in
Florida, but I'm kind of drawn to
the original Disneyland in Calif.

Love the picture of your two
grandsons flaked out in the back
of the van on your way home from
California. Stacked on top of
one another, rosy cheeks and
damp hair, using Pooh bear as a
pillow/mattress. So cute.

I do not understand the appeal
of Spongebob either.

Oh my, your Fairies in the Garden
is really taking shape and looks
amazing. The thread that you're
using to stitch the verse may be
a p.i.t.a. but the style of the
lettering is very pretty. Sorry
to hear about the frogging and
the bit of "staining" left behind.
Can you use a bit of tape to dab
some of it off perhaps??

It's hard to keep up with the
reading and commenting of blogs
even when you have a dull,
ordinary life like mine. (Ha!)
But everyone knows that you just
have to prioritize your life, and
do the best you can. And make
sure that you are maintaining
your enjoyment of the activity
no matter what.

Your cruise sounds like it's
going to be fantastic!! I still
remember our Alaskan cruise of
about 17 years ago with great
pleasure. I'd do it again in an
instant if we didn't have the
cats. Phoebe would not do well
at all if I left her. Anyways,
have a great time.

How annoying, and frustrating,
about the scheduling snafu with
your son's surgery in March.
Hope that things will run more
smoothly now and all will go
according to plan.

Cheers!

Looks like you had an awesome time vacationing, the boys look like they throughly enjoyed it to the point of exhaustion. They'll have wonderful stories to tell their friends. As to Spongebob, nope I totally don't get him either. Have a fantastic time on your cruise, it sounds wonderful. I did a cruise a couple years back and loved it, I so want to go again sometime.

Hi Kathy

Looks like you had a great time with your grand children, and they looked as though they were having fun.
Your foxgloves are looking good, I just love that design I am back into flower stitching and think I have something similar in a stitching mag...I have ordered a chart of Rose Swalwel of her seasons series, just the Winter one but I would have loved to have ordered all four seasons!

Enjoy a wonderful stitchy week

I have made it back to blogland and hope to try and keep up this time.

Wow your babies are growing so fast they will soon be young men Kathy, but you are like me and love to get them to yourselves and I think that is when the best memories are made.

Lovely wips especially "Fairies", makes me want to get mine out but I want to work on a couple of others before I tackle that again - hopefully soon.
