And a New Year starts

2010 - here I come.

I will make some changes this year. I was pleased with my 50 finishes for last year but my BAP's suffered because of it.
This year, you will see fewer finishes as I hope to get a couple of my BAP's completed.
There are only 3 hearts left to stitch in my Friendship Sampler RR and 3 Miras to stitch in my Mirabilia RR.
I would like to have Mirabilia's Royal Holiday finished by the end of February but I don't think that is realistic. I was hoping to have her done to enter in the County Fair in April but I may have to shoot for later in the year.
I would like to finish Fairies in the Garden this year.
I want to make some progress on my HAED - Peacock Lagoon.

I want to put a major dent in my newest BAP.
Here it is after 4 days of stitching - Chatelaine's Desert Mandala.

That little bird is over 1 on 32 count. My eyes almost crossed doing this. You can see the lightning and moon in the sky so far.

Here is a photo of my finished biscornu

- my last stitch of 2009. This was a belated Christmas gift for the wonderful woman who is my quilting mentor.

I have been really busy with my quilting. Here is my finished Redwork "Postcards of Canada."

The backing fabric is a Thimbleberries fabric called "Postcards of Canada".

How appropriate!

I finished this quilt-as-you-go log cabin square.

This will be one block in the quilt that my quilt group puts together and raffles off for charity.

I am thinking of doing a few personal exchanges this year. I have never done this before and am not sure how it works. Any one interested?

Well, till next time - back to the needle. I will have some progress on Royal Holiday to show you when I write again.

Wow, 50 finishes! That's truely a lot. I can understand that you want to finish some of your BAPs this year. I also have a couple of them lying around and it's no fun to always see them in the WIP box for years and just put a couple of stitches in before putting them away again. I finished two BAPs last year and plan to finish two more this year. It's a great feeling when they are done.
Great start on Chatelaine's Mandala. And a great quilt finish.

Hi Kathy! Can you refresh my memory? What is a BAP? I love your red quilt. Very nice. I would be interested in doing a private exchange with you but not until like early summer? I have a few gifts and such I need to get done first part of the year. Thanks for always stopping by my blog and your very kind words. Hugs.

I love your redwork quilt. I've got a few Canadian themed projects here to do, but I seem keener on them than my parter - and he's the Canadian one. Then again, I'm also more keen on Canadian literature than he is ;o)

I'd love to do a private swap with you - perhaps if we have an email chat we can sort out dates, themes and stuff?

I admire your resolve to do more BAP's. Sadly, I have none scheduled. Love the biscornu and quilt.

What a wonderful 2009 list of finishes. It's been wonderful sharing them along with you through your blog. 2010 sounds like it's going to be a stitching year for you too. I look forward to seeing things as they happen! Your quilts are wonderful!

WOW! You were busy...and I love the quilt...did the backing have anything to do with the lighthouse that pops up regularly?

I hope to see you finish some of your BAP's (Big A$$ Projects) - I know I have a couple on the go that will take me some time...

Beautiful quilting and biscornu! Great start on the Desert Mandala - I keep looking at that design, but my conscience is keeping me from giving in to "the click"! So many BAPs already.

That said, I'll be keeping a close eye on your progress. Might just tip me over the edge.

I'd also love to do a personal exchange with you, Kathy :)

Beautiful stitching. Your quilt is wonderful. I knew a lot of places you have on your quilt being from Canada and all. Brought back some wonderful memories.
Thank you.

How much do I love that quilt?! It is so fantastic. If I agree to move to Canada will you make me one? ;)

I think 2010 is a good year for big finishes. I've got some long term WIPs - that are also BAPs that need to get done too.

Hi Kathy!

It was interesting to read your
goals for stitching this year.
You had 50 finishes last year????
Wow! I had ... er ... a few
less then that. Cough, cough.
I want to do better this year.
We'll see how that goes.

So you've begun stitching the
Chatelaine piece that I heard
about in September. So far,
so good. I love watching these
Chatelaine designs being stitched
and how they look at each stage
of their creation. They are all
so beautiful.

Your biscornu turned out
fantastic and I'm sure that
the person that you stitched it
for loved it.

Wow!! Look at Postcards of
Canada all put together and
looking fabulous!! Love it.
It's cool seeing all those
embroidered squares together
in a quilt and I love that
red! The backing fabric
couldn't be a better choice.

Looking forward to seeing your
progress on Royal Holiday.

Cheers!

Whew! Gorgeous quilts, Kathy! And great stitching on the Chatelaine mandala. I've never seen it before. Good thing you didn't forget to cross your stitches with those crossed eyes!
Good luck with your new goals. I made my goals for this year when I achieved them - yes, really! I achieved my stitching goals for 2010 in the first two weeks :o)
